There is a saying in many parts of Africa: "If you educate a man, you simply educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation."

Lazy Monday

Have I mentioned how happy I am to be back here in Paarl, South Africa? I can't say it enough. You may hear that daily.

I wanted to show you some pictures of command central aka my guesthouse:

There is something cool to see out every window! Here's the kitchen view of the pool--very peaceful in day or night.

a sitting area in view from the kitchen window

a fountain from the bedroom window--leaving the window open at night provides for the sound of water through the night (which I love because I need "noise" at night)

Yesterday, I visited Sit Cafe. You can go back to blogs from 2010 and see this wonderful B&B we stayed in called Nantes-vue. The owners Johan & Sarina no longer own that B&B but lucky for me, they now have Sit Cafe, which is walking distance from my guesthouse. Sarina has THE best style. I just love to look at how she has decorated. Her food is delicious and beautiful. Every dish comes out as a masterpiece with so much love and detail. How does one get so talented anyway?!?

Here are some pictures from Sit:

not just "any" french toast either -- with honey & rocket

I went back later for lunch. No shame. I brought my wine and this is how I caught up on my Nehemiah study that I'm missing while I'm gone.

chicken mayo - my favorite sandwich here

I know you'll be surprised but I also did a quick wine tasting down the road. I like to support local?!

It was a lazy Monday and great for catching up after a few weeks of madness. I know some of you believe that you jump right into these trips headfirst and begin serving. After a few years, I see that you also need some down time first and in between serving to digest what you've seen and done and to hear God's voice. I've been on "mission trips" before and when I've gotten back to the States mentally and physically exhausted, it felt like God and I bumped into each other and exchanged words like "You were there too!??!" "I didn't get a chance to hear you at all because I was busy" or "I wish we would have had time to catch up." There is so  much to be heard and learned when you take yourself out of your normal routine--WHEREVER you go. You don't have to come as far as Paarl [although I highly recommend it].

Anyway, that's it for now.

Thank you my friends.

Cheers,
Danielle
